Building Bridges"Community Based Integration Fundamentals for Connectors and Organizations"
Building Bridges is a full day (7 hour) learning opportunity that will encourage professionals to further examine the concept of community inclusion, communication, and access. The reality is that individuals, families, support networks and the wider community are increasingly interested in support strategies that are based in relationship, citizenship, contribution, opportunity, safety and sustainability. Bringing Community Together is responding to the growing need for progressive and innovative thinking within the community living “movement”, and aims to better equip, and motivate, all community members to enrich the lives of people with diverse abilities and the communities capacity to provide ALL of its members opportunity to achieve a sense of contribution, relationship, and value.

The goals of the Building Bridges workshop include:
- To come together with a common purpose based in community development, inclusion and innovation
- Reflect upon a community that welcomes diversity and equity
- Discuss organizational structure as it pertains to supporting community based inclusion practices
- Discuss practical strategies that can assist with direct service delivery and communities capacity to become more inclusive and welcoming to all of its members
- Leave the session with new ideas, energy, and tools that are focused on community and the development of natural supports in various settings.
- Participants will have the opportunity to work through the Building Bridges learning manual and take the information back to their organization and team.
